This stay was my first foray into the Airbnb world. I must admit, I ended up with a very nice, multilevel, two-bedroom apartment, in a nice part of town for just $27 a day. Nice to be out of a hotel or hostel for two nights, but I am not sure I would make this a regular habit, I like the convenience of arriving anytime I like, which is not possible with Airbnb. In this setup, one has to set a time to meet the owner, get the house rules, tour of the apartment, blah, blah, blah. There is something to be said for walking in to a hotel and just giving them your name, and they hand you a key card, inform you of the free breakfast, and off to your room you go.
Visited Montserrate today. Pretty cool up there in the clouds. One has to take a gondola or incline to get to the top. Once there, the facility offers incredible views of the city. One thing you can not see below are the millions of cars stuck in traffic. Bogota has some serious urban planning to conduct. I went 3.5 miles today and it took me 45 minutes. Buses seem to be the culprit. They cut across three lanes a traffic at a shot, and then drop passengers off in any lane or intersection they find convenient, When they are not stopping traffic using this methodology, they stop the traffic by hitting it, and thus blocking the roads. In that same 3.5 miles there were three bus to auto collisions.
