Day 38: Bogota, Colombia to Ibague, Colombia

Rode from Bogota to Ibague today.  Murphy's law took hold.  I had my primary, secondary and tertiary navigation systems go down.  Or in other words, all of them.  I ended up cruising around Bogota for two hours longer than planned.  I hobbled together the three systems (rubber bands, patience, and a large AT&T bill), and eventually found my way out of the city.  Things happen when rounding the America's by motorcycle, but I hope next time it happens on the Peruvian coastline and not in 2km/hour Bogota traffic jams :-).  Heading to Cali tomorrow, and as luck would have it, there is a Garmin company store in the city. So hopefully they can help me out.

One word of caution for any adventurers reading this blog.  The new "chip" credit and debit cards do not work in Colombian ATMs.  There is just one bank that accepts them, BBVA, an Argentinian bank, and then there is a limit of $300,000 COL, or about $95 USD.  These banks are few and far between.  The cards work fine everywhere else (hotel, restaurant, gas, etc.).  Just bring cash with you when you enter the country.
