First of all, welcome to my blog, I appreciate your interest in "dual-sport" adventuring. This spring/summer (2016) I will be undertaking a solo motorcycle trip from Orlando, Florida to Rio De Janerio, Brazil. The trip will take me through 17 countries and over 20 international border crossings. I first started planning this trip 8 years ago and just now have been able to fit it into my schedule. Although I will be attempting to post an entry on a daily basis, I am sure unanticipated events and inevitable procrastination will prevent me from achieving this goal.
This blog will serve as a way for me to remember the trip, give readers an insight if they plan to undertake a similar adventure, and the police a good "bread-crumb" trail in case I disappear somewhere along the way. What will be included in this blog are the people, places and events that I (and hopefully you) find interesting. What this blog will not contain are the technical aspects concerning the vast amount of documentation for both myself and my bike, visa requirements or processing times, extensive procedures to cross borders, or other tedium (if this is of interest to you, send me an email and I will send you my rather extensive spreadsheet or you can visit a very informative blog authored by Jarle Eek, who just completed a 10-month ride from Northern Alaska to Southern Argentina (http://mymotorcycleadventure.com)).
In closing, I hope you find these posts interesting, if not, please send suggestions and I will attempt to improve the blog as the trip progresses.
About the Author
I have been a motor bike enthusiast since the age of 13 when I often "borrowed" my brother's moped and set out on adventures throughout the neighborhood. My first real motorcycle was a Kawasaki 750cc I purchased when I was 18 and attending school at Tulane University in New Orleans. The bike was hidden from my mom's knowledge until I fessed up to it about 5 years ago. She laughed. I relocated to Florida in 1986 and purchased a Honda 200XL. I loved this bike as it was virtually almost bulletproof. After proving it wasn't completely bulletproof by running it into a lake, canal and drainage ditch, I acquired a Honda Nighthawk 650cc. After years of renting bikes, I purchased a 2008 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic, which I still love and ride often. My most recent bike, the BMW 1200GS, was purchased in March 2016, primarily for this adventure.

In addition to motorcycling, I also enjoy world travel, SCUBA diving and photography. I am currently single and residing in Central Florida.
