Short trip today. Just shot down the coast a bit to Barranco. This City is a beautiful bohemian little getaway from Lima. A place for artists, poets and drunk 20 somethings. The town is rather difficult to find a fair US equivalent, but here goes, take pre-Katrina New Orleans charm, swap out the French colonial architecture for Spanish colonial, swap out the Mississippi River for the Pacific Ocean, then add in San Francisco housing along the shoreline, then cut the cost of living by about 90 percent, and you have Barranca. If I were buy a nice condo sitting on top of the cliff and overlooking the ocean, and then become a rock star, I think all my dreams would of come true.
I did hear back from a freight forwarder. Fingers crossed, I just have to drop the bike off at their warehouse and pick it up at customs in the US, then drive it on from there. Oddly enough, the price to ship it by plane is considerably cheaper than by boat, and about 6 weeks quicker to boot.
