Day 56: Huacho, Peru to Lima, Peru

Short and uneventful day on the motorcycle.  Rolled into Lima about 12:15 pm.   Very crowded city, definitely in need of a bath. All of the towns and cities in this part of Peru are surrounded by desert.  It rains very rarely, maybe once a or twice a year, and with the dust and sand, the cities get very dirty.  From what people tell me, Lima is permanently overcast, kind of like Cincinnati in the winter.

Lima seems to have some key indicators that they have some money here.  By the way, the indicators that I have developed are a bit odd, but I find them very effective.  Things like a large number of car washes, US fast food, and grass in the parks, all indicators.  Water is expensive, so a single car wash is more expensive than feeding a family of four for a day or two ($6), same with green grass, which needs to be watered, it is a sign of affluence, and McDonald's, about three times the cost of a three-course meal at a local restaurant.  I also tend to seek out BMW dealerships so I can get service done on the bike.  Lima has three of them, more than any other city I have come across, to include Orlando, FL.  I will be here for a couple of days, so I will check out Lima and see how my indicators fare.
