Left out of Tikal early this morning. More of the great roads that I experienced yesterday. One lane in either direction of twisty, turny, pure joy, until....unmarked, unsignaged, unpainted speed bumps. Loosened up a couple of fillings hitting them at high speed. Every 30-40 turns, there is another one.
Rolled into Rio Dulce around noon. My first impression was that the place is a crap hole. I wound my way though some nasty smelling, overcrowded streets, then pulled up next to the waterfront. To my surprise, it was beautiful, million dollar homes (rich Guatemalans), and quite a few US retires with their sail boats. There are nice little cafes and marinas along the lake, just amazing.
.
Trip Summary
This Leg: 156 miles
Total Distance Traveled: 3,664 miles
Border Crossings: 3
