The ride today's was short but fun. Just about 2 hours. The roads are actually better when the host country does not invest in them. Panama, like Guatemala, Nicaragua, etc., do not build bridges, instead their roads twist, turn, dive and climb to meet the native terrain, which makes them a blast to ride on. The roads today were like driving on an old wooden roller coaster track, climb and dive, while simultaneously twisting and turning, so it you have to be careful to catch the bank at the right speed, direct apex, and pray the person coming the other direction has done the same and not wandered into you lane.
I arrived at the docks at about 11:30am. There were were nine other adventure motorcyclists on the docks planing to make the same crossing. Of the ten of us, 8 were solo and the of course the remainder was a group of two. Countries represented include: US, Canada, Holland, Australia, Switzerland and Argentina. We loaded the bikes on to the boat, and off we went. We will need to spend one night at a local island hostel and then the four day crossing to Cartagena, Colombia.
