Today consisted mostly of unloading the bikes from the ship, customs. and immigration. It went surprisingly well, only took about 3.5 hours for 10 motorcycles. After the unloading, I headed south toward the Andes Mountains to escape the heat. Next stop, Medellin, made famous by Pablo Escobar and his drug cartel.
There is one individual I met on the boat that wins my "most interesting man in the world" nomination. His name is Chris, he is from Switzerland, and left home over three years ago on his Honda Africa Twin 700, a bachelor. Early in the trip he met his now girlfriend, an Italian expat in India, who agreed to ride along for "a week or two" on the trip. Two years later, still on the bike, the two arrived in New Zealand and welcomed a baby boy into the world. To keep up with the ever growing family, they added a side car to the bike, which is used for the baby seat and breast feeding while on the road. In total, they have gone through 62 countries, and logged over 120,000 miles. Pretty cool.
