Day 20: Granada, Nicaragua to Quepos, Costa Rica

Long ride on the bike today.  Awoke in Nicaragua, departed around 4:30 am, and the rain started, heavy at times.  I must admit, I like ridding in the rain. It is cooling, and a bit exciting at times.

The day ended up being rather long.  It took near 4 hours to get through the NIcaragua/Costa Rica border.  CR was the problem, hundreds of people, four workers, no signage, and trucks pilled up as far as the eye can see.  The bike registration was the real problem.  After finding the right agent, he proceeded to screw up the paperwork, and then disallowed the bike though.  Apparently, the title and registration did not match the paperwork that he filled out, and proceeded to tell me there was nothing he could do and I should drive back to Florida.  No recommendation on how to fix the problem, just that I should go home.  After some very choice and rather loud words, the Police and supervisors showed up.  Long story short, his supervisor ripped into him, and what was "impossible" to do, was done in 15 seconds.  Then he yelled at me for getting him in trouble.  What an ass.

Two of the 1,000s of Windmills I passed Going Through Nicaragua.

Costa Rica, beyond the border, is quite beautiful and is actively looking to be a retirement location for US citizens.  Billboards are advertising condos on the beach for under $100K. From the looks of things, it appears that many US citizens are biting.  The country is a nice place to visit, just don't drive yourself t here.

Trip Summary:
Today's Leg: 281 miles
Total Distance Traveled: 4,482
Total Borders Crossed: 6
Total Countries Visited: 7
Total Times Stopped by the Police: 2
