Day 18: San Pedro Luna, Honduras to Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Today was an epic day in the mountains.  One hundred and fifty miles of brand new, super twisty, mountainous, two-lane, unidirectional road that I had all to myself.  I was able to dive-in to corners, accelerate out of them at high speed without interference from anybody.  Elevations ranged from 150' to over 5,000,' temperatures from the high 60s to the mid 80s, and reached speeds upwards of 90 mph.  I must say this is the first time I was able to push the bike hard for long periods of time, and I will say it right now, this is simply the best machine I have ever owned.  The bike just ate up the road and seemed to be begging for more.

Honduras seems to be a more progressive country than the previous ones I have passed though on this trip.  There is definitely more money here, much more US influence, nicer cars, and numerous other standard economic indicators that separates them from Mexico, Guatemala, etc.  The odd thing is that every business, and I mean every business (hair salons to gas stations), has armed security.  The armed security is on par with the military, they are wearing body armor and carrying weapons that are designed to kill (automatics, pump action shotguns, etc.), not defend (hand guns).  Statistically speaking, this is the most dangerous portion of the trip, but I have not has those feelings as of yet.
